Supra USB Excalibur Silver Edition - Our best
USB digital audio cable
Now available !
We have for a couple of years been developing an ultimate USB
Cable, the result was USB Excalibur.
Supra USB Excalibur is supplied in a cardboard carton, just 17.5
(w) x 16.5 (d) x 4 (h) cm..
Our goal was simple: to make the world's best USB cable, with
no compromises or shortcuts. Excalibur is a premium high speed
cable with improved data and power transmission, a complement
to the existing USB series.
Supra USB Excalibur is supplied in a black presentation bag, but
you can use it to help protect the cable, if used in portable/remote
situations.
Both the data pair and the power pair are optimised for their
purpose, as the demands to transmit data and power are different.
The twisted data pair is made of PE insulated Silver-plated Oxygen
Free Copper wires. The Silver layer is very thick, 3.8% of the
total wire, for best conductivity and high velocity factor. Silver
is great for high frequencies and high speed data transmission.
USB Excalibur, is optimised to handle 24-bit HD Audio and it's
90 Ohm characteristic impedance results in low attenuation.
The construction of the power conductors are totally different
compared to the data pair. To avoid power losses and to maximize
the conductor area we used 4 Tin-plated OFC wires in a star quad
configuration. Star quad design and the seperate screen reduces
any RFI greatly .
You probably recognise the design of the plugs - the USB plugs
are siblings to our popular HDMI plug. Fully shielded in Aluminium.
The plugs are detachable to make it possible to route the cable
within in 16 millimeter conduits including the contact. No more
on-site cut-offs and re-soldering, jeopardising the typical Supra
top notch performance.
USB cable (factory terminated)
Standard Features:
High Performance, High Speed - Uses a flexible cable with dual screens
for the best RF pick-up protection.
One twisted pair for data (24-bit) and two star-quad pairs for power,
with individual screens for minimal cross-channel interference.
Low capacitance and efficient noise rejection maintain signal integrity
in long run interconnects.
PE-insulated wires with correct 90 Ohms impedance design.
24K gold plated and shielded connectors.
The connectors use aluminium housings to withstand tough applications
and long term use.
Maximum Data Transfer Rate: 480 Mbits/second (as per USB 2.0 specifications).
Please note:
While USB 2.0 and 3.0 are physically and electrically compatible,
USB 3.0 is a dual-link system that is not currently used for USB
Audio.
Connectors used to terminate USB Excalibur cables are:
1) Standard Type A to Standard Type B - for use with most mains-powered
DACs - available in the following lengths:
1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m
Other lengths and connector types may be introduced in the future.
